HISTORY
Caipora is an entity from Tupi-Guarani mythology . The word “caipora” comes from the Tupi caapora and means “inhabitant of the bush”. [1]
In Brazilian folklore, he is represented as a small Indian with dark skin, agile and naked.
Inhabitant of the forests , he reigns over all the animals and he destroys the hunters who do not fulfill the hunting agreement made with him. His whole body is covered with hair. He lives on a kind of wild pig and he carries a stick. Cousin of Curupira , protects forest animals. The Indians believed that the Caipora feared the light, so they protected themselves from it by walking with lit fires during the night.
Caipora is considered in some parts of Brazil as a cannibal, that is to say they eat who he sees hunting, even a tiny insect.
