HISTORY
Samson (in Hebrew : שִׁמְשׁוֹן, Shím'shôn, Tiberian Hebrew : Šimšôn which means "little sun", or "son of the sun"), (in Arabic : شمشون, Shamshūn / Samsun) or (in Greek : Σαμψών, Sampson) de according to his description in the Hebrew Bible , he was a Nazarite man, the son of Manoah , born of a barren mother (Judges 13: 2) and who led the Israelites against the Philistines . He was from the tribe of Dan and was the thirteenth judge of Israel, succeeding Abdon . The Bible reports that Samson was a judge of the people of Israel for twenty years (Judges 16:31), approximately from 1177 BC to 1157 BC [1] , being Abdon's successor and Eli's predecessor.
He distinguished himself because he had a superhuman strength which, according to the Bible, was supplied to him by the Holy Spirit of God as long as he remained obedient to the God of hosts (see article on the Nazirites). He easily subdued his enemies and produced unattainable deeds by ordinary men, such as tearing a young lion in half, facing an entire army and killing a crowd of Philistines (after discovering he was deceived) to pick up his clothes by paying a bet. (Judges 14: 6; 15:14; 16:23).
According to the biblical text, Samson fell in love with Delilah , a woman from the Philistine people, who betrayed him by handing him over to the leaders of his nation, after learning about his hair, which were the source of his strength over -human. After being blinded by the Philistines, Samson became a slave.
Samson died by sacrificing himself to take revenge on his enemies, after he cried out to God for restoring his strength for a final and definitive act.
